This is a good piano with great potential. It plays and tunes well, looks good (if you like rosewood), and has a warm, somewhat quiet, even tone. It was restrung with large tuning pins in 1994, got new NY Steinway hammers and shanks in 2001. At some point in the last 20-30 years it was refinished and had the keys nicely recovered. There are splits and little crown in the soundboard and minimal down bearing on the bridges, accounting for the subdued tone. But with a new belly (soundboard, bridge caps, pin block, strings) it would produce great color and volume. One could buy and use this piano with pleasure as-is, then rebuild the guts when it suits your budget. If you don't need the top three notes of the standard 88-Note keyboard, this is an economical path into a rosewood Steinway B.
